Half Of All Infertility Cases Are Due To Male infertility And A Reason To Be Worried
It is believed that there are a number of factors that directly or indirectly contribute to infertility and which are male oriented and furthermore, it is believed that such factors contribute to about thirty percent of all cases of infertility in males in a direct manner while another, it is believed, twenty percent affect their fertility indirectly. To be sure the problem of infertility is believed to affect both sexes equally and thus it is hard to pinpoint which partner is more to ‘blame’ when it concerns a case of infertility.
Though infertility is normally associated as affecting women, the fact of the matter is that males too are equally at risk and thus it is necessary to have male fertility test performed to establish whether the problem does not in fact start with the male partner.
Sexually Transmitted Diseases
There are a number of factors worth considering with regard to male infertility problems and among them are sexually transmitted diseases amongst the youth with those aged between 15 and 19 years of age being most at risk. Other reasons why male infertility occurs is the quality of male sperm that can in turn get affected by abnormal genetics, genital tract and heat as well as age as by infections – both chronic (sexually transmitted) and acute.
Malnutrition too can cause male infertility as too can certain instances of previously having undergone surgery and even allergies too are able to contribute to male infertility. In fact, even medications such as Tagamet that are used to treat ulcers can cause male infertility and even drugs that treat cancer can have a similar effect.
It is also not wise to smoke too much marijuana which is another reason why male infertility can occur and alcohol abuse and stress are other similar reasons why a person could become impotent and not even be able to ejaculate.
Another aspect to suffering from male infertility is through enlarged veins and though this can be cured it is nevertheless something that affects many males – in fact, it is believed to affect as many as forty percent of all infertile males. As a matter of fact, about fifty percent of males suffering from male infertility report lower sperm count and there are also many unwanted changes in their semen taking place as well.
Genital infections too are a reason why a male would suffer from male infertility and even gonorrhea has been known to severely damage the male’s genital tract and thus result in temporary low sperm count.
