What is Infertility?

Infertility is something that millions of people around the world are dealing with right now. When you find that you are unable to have a child, it may mean that you are infertile. This is not always the case, but if you find that you are having troubles getting pregnant, or you are planning to start trying to get pregnant, you are going to want to learn what infertility means and why you need to make sure that you are not.

What it Means

There are actually a few different types of infertility that you can be diagnosed with. There is the primary infertility which is the case when a couple has been trying to have a child and have never had a child, and secondary infertility means that the infertile person has had a child or two in the past but now they are having trouble conceiving.

There are more people who are dealing with infertility than most people realize, so if you are one of these people, at least you know that you are not alone and that there are a lot of other people out there who are going through the exact same thing as you are.

It can take quite some time for doctors to diagnose whether it is the man or woman in a couple, or even both, that are the problem. Doctors will use a number of different personal factors in order to determine which person is the infertile one. For instance if one is older than the other, the doctor may assume that it is them who are infertile.

However, in most cases doctors will start by doing a few tests on the man to make sure that he is okay, because the tests on men are a lot less invasive than the ones on women, so this way if the man is found to be the infertile one and is treated and then the woman gets pregnant, of course the woman is then not going to have to go through any tests.

Treatment

Of course if you are found that you are dealing with infertility, you are probably anxious to find out about infertility treatment, what you can do to get better so that you can get pregnant and start a family. Well there are a few things that you need to know here. The situation varies from one case to another and so it is really going to depend on the person and what the actual problem is.
